Domains as Real Estate

Domains Real Estate

“Domains have and will continue to go up in value faster than any commodity ever known to man”
  ~ Bill Gates, Microsoft Corp.~

In reality, only a few hundred domainers control over 5 million websites.

This group of true Internet millionaires earn more than $750,000,000 each year.  This revenue is largely search revenue like AdSense as well as the income from buying and selling these domains like real estate.

Online, just as in Offline, it really is location, location, location.  All together, the domains they own, represent a search volume comparable to TWENTY PERCENT of Google.  Unlike normal Real Estate, very few people fully understand the inner workings of this market.

While many of the keyword dense, Top Level Domains (TLD’s) have been registered, there are several ways that you can still maneuver throughout the domaining world.

1.   You can purchase domains at a premium in the after-market
2.   You can add dashes between the keywords when your market plan includes SEO.
3.   You can add digits to the end of the domain such as RealEstateInvesting411.com

And 4. You can build a stream of traffic within that niche based on other available domain names.  This stream of traffic can then be directed to a money site with a memorable domain name, like TshirtJunkie.com or Made2Convert.com.

When purchasing domains outside of the traditional $10 initial registration, you will want to look at the underlying value in the domain.

Here are a few factors you should look at…

1.   How many backlinks does the site have?
2.   What is the current Page Rank of the site?
3.   How much traffic is the site currently receiving?
4.   Does the domain name pass the radio test?  i.e.  If you heard www.go-for-it.com on the radio, you would not know to enter the dashes.

These are just a few of the factors to consider.  Owning and using a keyword research tool will greatly increase your knowledge as to a domains potential value.

If you do not have one, I would suggest you take a look at www.NicheTrafficBuilder.com

Niche Traffic Builder will tell you the competition data, the domain availability and the amount of monthly searches for the respective keywords.

I will leave you with this thought.  While the entire planet is busting their pocket books trying to chase after the “offline real estate” market, stake your claim in the online real estate world.
